Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Production Director, the Quality/Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes to ensure products meet regulatory, safety, and customer satisfaction requirements. This person will utilize lean methodology to drive continuous improvement, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize manufacturing efficiency across the product lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead Problem solving, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns using statistical tools.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen Events, lean methodology, etc.
  • Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing tools & techniques (workshops, kanban, visual management, 5S, total productive maintenance, set-up reduction, etc.)
  • Develop and provide training to build quality awareness.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
  • Interface with Suppliers, Engineering and Operations to provide feedback and data for products and processes.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing audit strategies for processes, products and systems.
  • Assist in vendor surveillance of purchased materials, finished parts and processes.
  • Determine inspection and test equipment required to evaluate product quality and reliability.
  • Lead and manage projects to improve cost and quality of manufacturing processes, products and purchased components.
  • Implement and maintain process controls through advanced quality planning techniques (FMEA, key characteristics management, mistake proofing, etc.).
  • Research, evaluate, justify, and recommend capital equipment for operations.
  • Prepare capital expenditure requisitions and manage the implementation of capital equipment projects.
  • Stay current with state-of-the art technologies and equipment.
  • Participate in developing strategic manufacturing processes. Also assist in developing the short and long-range capital planning.
  • Prepare and coordinate the implementation schedule for major projects and process changes.
  • Develop and maintain all process documentation (i.e. routings, standard work, work instructions, setup sheets, etc.) to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze proposed engineering changes for manufacturing impact and feasibility.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field discipline.
  • 3 – 5 years quality and engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment, with supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO or related experience preferred.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail skills along with the ability to hand multiple projects at once.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to build strong and sustainable relationships.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and function specific software.
  • Indirect influence and management; builds trust and involves others
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills, ability to interact with various departments throughout the organization
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French Canadian.
