Today
Today – Unicel’s products are featured in prominent healthcare, institutional, commercial and educational building projects around the globe. Unicel’s success is evidenced not only by the demand for its products, but also by its numerous industry awards.

2014
2014 marked the 50th anniversary of Unicel Architectural. Founded in 1964 as a family enterprise, Unicel became a global leader for building products that ensure privacy, safety, sustainability and longevity. Unicel credits much of its success over the years to its patented and award-winning Vision Control® hermetically sealed glass units with operable louvers. In 2014, Unicel provided hundreds of Vision Control® units to new hospitals in the Middle East - the Sidra Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi - that are considered to be at the forefront of healthcare facility design.

2011
Unicel expands specialty glazing portfolio with a new, integrated blinds product line - ViuLite® - to build on the success of its patented Vision Control® integrated louvers. By offering integrated blinds to complete its family of vision and daylight control products, Unicel is now an unmatched supplier of architectural solutions for control over vision, daylight, heat and sound.

2010
Unicel expands its markets to the GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates), as well as the Latin American market, and launches Vision Control® Mini – a new, thinner version of its patented louvered glazing solution.

2000s
Unicel Architectural and Vision Control’s popularity grows rapidly in the 2000s, especially in the Healthcare industry. In Canada, Unicel’s solutions are included in noteworthy projects such as the Chatham Hospital, Peterborough General Hospital, U of T Scarborough Campus, North York Hospital, Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and Sunnybrook Hospital. Additionally, Unicel is selected for important and high profile green projects in the US including the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Grand Rapids Art Museum in Michigan.

1990s
Unicel expands its customer-base in the US by providing its patented solution to leading architectural projects including FBI offices in multiple states, the Cedar’s Hospital in Miami, Ohio State University in Columbus, and the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.

1980s
Unicel patents and perfects Vision Control® to growing Canadian and international market penetration and acclaim.

1970s
Unicel enters the aluminum sector, targeting large-scale industrial and apartment building projects. The company creates Vision Control® - a daylight control solution well ahead of its time in terms of thermal efficiencies.

1960s
Unicel is founded in Montreal, Quebec.
